It was a Beautiful Day!

The volunteer workday hosted by our church last month was incredible to witness.  Over 60 volunteers came together to work on six properties of families who lost homes in the CZU Lightening Complex fires.  Many of these volunteers came from churches in the San Francisco Bay Area and Santa Cruz such as Vintage Faith Church, Westgate Church and Woodside Church.

The families we helped were under-insured, seniors, widows, single parents or battling serious health challenges.  Volunteers came from our local Bonny Doon community as well as from churches in the Bay Area and our own Santa Cruz County.

Despite the outrageous weather we're having now and had in January, the actual workday was blessed with perfect weather, warm days and cloudless blue skies.  It was truly a beautiful day!

Our mission's fire survivor team and participating churches were so excited to witness the encouragement these workdays gave to home owners and the joy volunteers experienced making a difference in the lives of fire survivors.

In addition to the volunteer work, we were able to hire professional help to remove dangerous trees threatening future homesites.   We were able to fund this work through funds raised at our annual craft fairs, the generosity of personal donors and contributions from Santa Cruz Convergence and Trinity Church.

We want to continue helping our neighbors in this way.  Won't you join us in making another workday possible.   We have a place for anyone who wants to help whether it be with help organizing, volunteering on our workdays or financially.
